Eco Schools Award (Green Flag)
Most young people care deeply about environmental issues and wish to make a positive change in the environment around them.
The Eco schools programme is an international award that guides schools on their sustainable journey. The programme provides an ideal way for developing environmental awareness in the entire school in a way that links to many curriculum subjects. The programme allows schools to work towards 3 awards – Bronze, Silver and the Green Flag.
Our schools has been awarded the prestigious 'Green Flag Award' by Eco Schools. This is the highest award which symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity. This year we will be going for our 5th Green Flag Award. This is a very privileged place to be as few schools reach this achievement.
The children are the driving force behind Eco schools – they are asked to lead the Eco committee and help carry out an audit to assess the environmental performance of the school. As part of the programme our school can create action plans to tackle 9 different topics that include:
- Water
- Energy
- Healthy living
- Schools grounds
- Biodiversity
- Global perspective
- Litter
- Transport
