Supporting Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) in Benny’s Base

At St. Benedict’s, we recognise that emotional wellbeing is fundamental to learning. In Benny’s Base, we provide a nurturing, supportive environment where children feel safe, understood and valued.

Our SEMH support includes:

  • Thrive sessions to develop emotional resilience, self-regulation and positive relationships.
  • ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) interventions for children who may need additional support with emotions, confidence, friendships, anxiety or change.
  • Nurture and pastoral support through trusted adults who know each child well.
  • Sensory and regulation strategies, including calm spaces, visual supports and personalised approaches to help children feel ready to learn.
  • Close partnership with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure every child receives the support they need.
Our aim is to help every child develop the confidence, independence and emotional skills needed to thrive both in school and beyond.
